Realms

Since the fall of the Third Empire, the lands by the Dragon Sea have been dominated by six nations.

• Kalisa: Spreading out along the center portion of the Clear Water river, Kalisa is a light in the darkness after the fall, but a flawed one. Home to the Faith of Light, the former theocracy is currently under the control of squabbling nobles while dealing with a war against the expansionist Kingdom of Luther to the north, and the threat of another war with the Canton of Vaterin to the east.

• Luther: Occupying the upper valley surrounding the spring of the Clear Water river, Luther is a hardy nation. Many formerly independent peoples form its populace, and nearby independent nations contribute further to the mix with tribute and mercenaries. Though they suppress dissent harshly, rebels and dissidents still nibble at their borders, distracting them from their war with Kalisa.

• Luceran:The coast-bound tropical nation of Luceran spreads from the mouth of the Clear Water river along the southern coasts of the Dragon Sea. An exotic people of demon summoners, white healers and sea mages, the northern states sometimes have a hard time making sense of the disparate port cities gathered under the rule of the tyrant of Darkport.

• Vaterin: Located on the eastern border of Kalisa, past a spur of the Skyward Peaks, the lands of Vaterin stretches all the way along the Snake River to the eastern coast of the Dragon Sea. The Vaterin armies are unmatched in the field and merciless in conquest. They are currently engaged in a war against the upstart nation of Jamal, and seem to be concentrating on that. The nobles of Kalisa fear the day that Vaterin's eyes might turn west.

• Jamal: The merchant council of Farview has expanded their reach to control the lands bordering the Great Grass Sea, even conquering more worthy pretenders to the power of the Third Empire. However, once their borders reaches the eastern border of Vaterin they met their match. Jamal has been reduced to a third of its size by the conquest of the Vaterin. Only the grand walls of Farview itself were able to stop their advance.

• Tsamrist: East across the narrow Emerald Sea lies the Tsamrist Oligarchy, a closed nation with rumors of shadow magic and extreme opulence. With the decline of Jamal, Tsamrist now rules the trade in the northern Dragon Sea, and their black ships trade from Luceran in the west to Jamal in the north.
