Titles: The General Imperatis, The Judge of Men
Iroh is the head deity of the Imperial Pantheon. The teaching of Iroh are focused on the well-being and expansion of the imperium as a whole, with each citizen doing their part for the greater whole.
Domains
Leadership, of men individually and society as a whole, whether in peace or war. Judgement upon those who break the laws of men and gods. Work in service of the empire, whether as a whole or your own little town or village.
Teachings
Leaders should lead, and followers should follow, with no hesitation or doubt from either.
Hard work is not rewarded, but expected. Laziness and cowardice shows disrespect for all those that do the work.
Law protects man from man. Breaking the law shows how little you regard the safety of your fellow man.
The empire is the ultimate manifestation of Iroh’s teachings. The empire should grow and spread so that more people can enter the fold, improving their own lives and the whole empire.
True disciples of Iroh will be granted passage to the domains of Iroh in the afterlife.
Symbols
Iroh’s symbol is the hammer, both as a tool of war and a tool of the craftsman. Many of the martial followers of Iroh adopts the warhammer as their weapon of choice, while his worshippers may carry a miniature hammer as a holy symbol.
His colors are light grey and gold. His clergy wear light grey with gold trim and a hammer embroidered in gold, robes for the priests and tabbards for the martial arm of the church.
Organization
Worshippers
Iroh is worshipped throughout the empire by citizens and nobles alike. Any good imperial citizen is expected to follow the imperial pantheon with Iroh at the head. While many imperial citizens only worship Iroh in passing on his holy days, there is also a large amount that are devout, striving to do their best for Iroh and the empire (which is one and the same in their mind).
Clergy
There are three arms of the church of Iroh. The inquisitorial arm, the martial arm and the priestly arm. Each arm works separately, though they can be expected to cooperate in any situation where it might be necessary.
The head of the church is the also the head of one of the three arms of the church. Currently the head is the Grand Inquisitor in Capaca, who will remain head until his death, at which point a new head is appointed from among the triumvirate leadership of the arms by Iroh himself.
The inquisitorial arm dispenses Iroh’s justice, and functions as judges and law enforcement. There are not enough members of the Imperial Inquisition to fill every position of judge and enforcer in the empire, but they can overrule any temporally appointed official.
The martial arm guides the Imperial army and fills its most elite units. Most of the martial arm of the church are at the edges of the empire, safeguarding or expanding its borders, but most of the larger temples has at least a small unit of armsmen, headed by one or more paladins.
The priestly arm guides the spirit of the citizens of the empire, encouraging them to follow the teachings of Iroh. They maintain his temples and organize prayer and holy days in his honor. A subset of the priestly arm are his monks, which cut their bonds with society to spend all their time in prayer to Iroh and service to the church.
Temples and Shrines
Iroh has a sizable church, with temples in all of the larger cities and towns in the empire. In the Aels of Capacia, Athasia and Drausia his worship his extremely well established, and you can expect to find a priest and shrine in every small village alongside Shadari.
His temples tend to be sizable , made in grey stone or marble, with attached barracks and living quarters for its priests and armsmen. Inside are benches and the altar, at which citizens and the priests can send their worship to Iroh.
His shrines tend to be made of locally available materials, but generally strive towards expert craftsmanship, with the shrine being the finest building in the village or hamlet where it has been built. Though smaller than the temples, the shrines strive to be large enough to allow the citizens to pray to Iroh inside.
Holy days and Festivals
The priests of Iroh regularly call for prayer days, the exact interval of which depend on the locale, but usually about once a month. On these days citizens are expected to come by the local shrine or temple and offer up worship to Iroh. Traditionally people worship takes the form of thanks to Iroh, for how the church or the empire has benefited the individuals life since the last prayer day.
In the month of Remembrance, from the 1st to the 10th, the priests organize the Festival of Remembrance, during which they commemorate Dranos the Great’s possession by Iroh, and the foundation of the empire. During the festival people will work hard during the day, and then come to the temples to experience plays and eat foods prepared by the church.
The church of Iroh does not participate in the festival of midsummer, but they generally release lesser criminals just before the festival in the month of Mercy. They also tend to turn a blind eye to behavior during the festival that at any other time would be considered bad or outright illegal at any other time. How great this leniency varies from place to place.Priests of Iroh
