Casting
A messenger may combine spheres and talents to create magical effects. You use Charisma as your casting ability modifier.
Spell Pool
A messenger gains a small reservoir of energy he can call on to create truly wondrous effects, called a spell pool. This pool replenishes once per day after roughly 8 hours of rest.
Calculate: Calculate your spell pool: Base Spell Pool + your casting ability modifier (minimum: 1).
Magic Tradition
Messengers follow the High Patron or Low Patron tradition.
Magic Talents
A messenger gains a magic talent every level. In addition she gains the Illusion Sphere as a bonus magic talent on 1st level.
Messengers can freely takes the following spheres:
- Alteration Sphere
- Conjuration Sphere
- Creation Sphere (though can only create natural objects)
- Dark Sphere
- Destruction Sphere
- Divination Sphere
- Enhancement Sphere
- Fate Sphere (with the Neutrality drawback)
- Illusion Sphere
- Light Sphere
- Mind Sphere
- Nature Sphere
- Protection Sphere
- Time Sphere (with the Personal Time drawback)
- Warp Sphere (with the Limited Warp drawback)
- Weather Sphere
Default: You get the Illusion Sphere with the Invisibility talent and the Dark Sphere with the Darkvision talent.
Alternatively: Get the Illusion Sphere and three other spheres/talents, remembering that you get an additional talent when you are forced to include a drawback.
Master Illusionist
Whenever the messenger ceases to concentrate on an illusion he is maintaining through concentration, or if he decides not to maintain an illusion at all after its creation, it remains for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 his fey adept level (minimum: 1) before disappearing.
Sneak Attack
A messenger gains +1d6 sneak attack, as the rogue class feature. This improves by +1d6 at 3rd level and another +1d6 at 6th level. This damage can be applied to sphere effects, but only those that deal damage, require an attack roll of some sort, and only once per effect regardless of the number of targets or attacks and only when the target is within 30 ft. Additional damage is of the same type as the effect, and if the effect allows a saving throw to negate or halve the damage, it also negates or halves the sneak attack damage.
If the messenger gains sneak attack from any other source (such as rogue levels), add these levels together when determining the strength of their sneak attack (thus, a rogue 1/Unseelie Adept 1 would possess 1d6 sneak attack, not 2d6).
Feats
The messenger gains no extra feats on first level.
Default: Pick Extra Magic Talent as your level 1 feat, and use it to get the Mind Sphere.
